Recently, a catastrophe has been taken place in the world. That catastrophe name is Ransomware.



Let, me tell about the thing What, When, Why this is happening and also How to avoid that catastrophe.

What is Ransomware?

Ransomware is a type of malicious software. This ransomware simply locks your system files in a way which is difficult to accessible and demands a ransomware payment to decrypt them. Without a decrypt key you can't decrypt the files.


When Ransomware started?

Initially popular in Russia, the scams of ransomware are internationally grown in June 2013. Earlier in mid 2000's, there were more than 7.6K ransomware attacks are reported in Internet Crime Complaint Center (IC3) between 2005 and march of last year. Outnumbering that just over 6K data branches reported during the same period . In 2015, IC3 received  2.4K ransomware complaints that cost victims over $1.6 million. Actually, if examine the history of ransomware it's first document attack is in 1989. Finally, in 2017 and it's beyond the previous attacks.

Why Ransomware doing this?

This malicious hackers are doing this to get money. After locking the system files, they demand you to pay 1 Bitcoin. Do you know how much 1 Bit coin is, 1816.63 USD. In Indian currency which is around 1,20,000 INR. On the lock screen they provide an address to pay the money. If you didn't payed they will kill your data.

How to avoid Ransomware?

  • Update your Software.
  • Install Anti Virus Software.
  • Be wary of suspicious emails and pop-ups.
  • Create a security plan for your business.
  • Create Backups of your data.
If you already infected by Ransomware, then the first thing to do is disconnect your computer from internet so, it does not infect other machines. Then report to law enforcement and seek help form them.

These are the mistakes by the user, in inviting the ransomware...

  • Not updating there system O.S/Software.
  • And browsing in unknown sites and opening malicious data.
