Is it Really Google Cuts Down Search Snippets By Half Again? (Bloggers Hint: Yes)
If you have lengthy meta descriptions, should you go back and shorten them now? Yes, It's time for shock.... sorry, short search result snippet.
Just a six months ago, the search engine lord Google increased the maximum characters shown in the search results snippets box to 300+ characters. Time spent increasing meta descriptions for the longer Google search results snippets may have been wasted.
Now Google has cut it down to 160 at desktop version.

While at mobile version characters for the search results snippets are now down to an average of 130 characters.
